Deploying the device

I deployed on different spots around my chosen site.

However the device didn’t quite work as expected. Because of the water retention properties of the material, liquid has to evaporate out of the clay sample in order to be extracted.

Instead of collecting water samples, I focused on collecting as many different clay samples as possible from a particularly diverse part of the site.

A lot of the samples had traces of Iron Oxide in, leading to them being pale pink in colour.
